Responsibilities:

- Conducts mortality/morbidity and lapse experience studies, continually reviews and improves experience analysis processes.
- Supports the development of pricing bases for Individual Life/Living Benefits products.
- Supports all line of business requests for the pricing and development of large quotes and special products and reinsurance structures.
- Supports the development of economic capital models for biometric risk.
- Provides actuarial and research support for Underwriting.
- Participates in North American and Global Biometric Research initiatives.
- Provides peer and technical reviews for other team members.
- Assists in the hiring and development of Actuarial Associates, Students and Co-ops.
- Assists in ensuring all junior Biometric Research team members have a clear understanding of corporate and departmental objectives.
- Identifies challenging tasks and assignments for more junior staff to provide career growth and development.

Qualifications:

- University Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- FSA or progressing towards attainment of FSA, FCIA.
- 4-7+ years’ experience in the Canadian Life and Health insurance/reinsurance industry in individual life and/or pricing.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with clients and co-workers.
- Excellent communication skills as demonstrated in general conversation, clear, complete responses to internal and external clients, formal presentations and written documents.
- Experience in financial analysis and reporting.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem solving and organization skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and effectiveness working under tight timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Advanced Excel, Word, Access.
- Knowledgeable with GGY AXIS and Datalink.
- Knowledge of SQL, R, @Risk, or MATLAB an asset.
