-Underwriting new and existing business in accordance with current guidelines and within individual underwriting authority limits.
-Assist in the business planning process generally, as well as specifically, in respect to the lines of business personally written.
-Continuous monitoring of portfolio performance versus agreed targets.
-Establish new business enquiries and continue to develop existing business relationships.
-Execute agreed business development and marketing strategies, developed with executive management, working both individually and within a team. This may require overseas travel.
-Maintain awareness of changing insurance/reinsurance/retro market conditions to take advantage of new opportunities.
-Ensure that the administration of the document management and workflow systems (including the review and execution of slips, contract certainty checklists, population of pricing other risk management information, the maintenance of files and records, underwriter and peer reviews) is carried out in accordance with internal procedures.
-Monitor aggregate exposures by line of business and geography to meet the needs of the risk management framework.
-Other projects as required

-Bachelor’s degree required
-ARe or CPCU or equivalent professional designation, or evidence of progression towards same preferred.
-Extensive experience in the reinsurance industry as evidenced by a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
-Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Must demonstrate the ability to share knowledge with other team members.
-Extensive knowledge of global insurance, reinsurance and retro markets with emphasis on London Lloyds Retro market place and North American Treaty business.
-Proven knowledge of global insurance and reinsurance markets. Must be aware of regional differences in contract coverage’s and reinsured perils.
-Ability to develop and advance close business relationships with reinsurance brokers and buyers around the world.
-Proven marketing skills with in-depth line of business knowledge and a proven ability to create new business opportunities; possession of close relationships with reinsurance brokers and buyers in the London and North American markets.
-Demonstrable record of underwriting or broking retrocession and treaty business in the London market insurance companies and Lloyds Syndicates.
-Strong understanding of actuarial pricing models for the various lines of business written in the lines of business personally written.
-Working knowledge of strengths and weaknesses of external vendor catastrophe simulation models.
-Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
-Proven organizational and timekeeping skills and a strong sense of attention to detail are essential
-The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
-Must be able to work outside of normal office hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays if necessary
